Motorola's iRadio nears launch

Tools

Reports circling the Internet say Motorola's iRadio is nearly set to launch. The concept for iRadio is a ubiquitous radio experience that uses Bluetooth connectivity to port streaming music channels and personal connections across various platforms, including the home and car and directly through the mobile phone. iRadio already boasts deals with both Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group while deals with the other two major music players are expected before the launch.

Although the concept may prove more useful than existing mobile music setups, going up against the already ubiquitous iPod will prove trying. The space could use some more serious competition, though, and by the looks of things a partnership with The Beatles' record company, Apple Records, would give them a leg up on the competition. The two Apples are going to court over trademark, hence no Beatles music is offered on iTunes.
