Verizon Wireless announced the launch of SocialLife, a new mobile application promising subscribers a one-stop gateway to multiple social networking sites including MySpace, LiveJournal, Photobucket and Rabble. According to Verizon, SocialLife enables users to view messages, approve or deny friend requests, and post comments and status updates. In addition, SocialLife integrates camera features, so photos may be snapped within the application and then uploaded in a single click to the user's selected social networking site. SocialLife is powered via mobile social networking solutions provider Intercasting's Anthem platform--the application is available for $1.49 per month.
In other Verizon Wireless news, the operator announced the debut of m.vcast.com, a new site featuring select V Cast Video content via the mobile web. Developed in conjunction with mobile web applications firm Buzzwire, m.vcast.com leverages the streaming video capabilities of HTML web browsers, enabling subscribers to browse content by category, channel or program. Users may also share content with other subscribers and websites, including social networking site Twitter.
Still more from Verizon Wireless: Ringback Buddies, available as a Facebook Platform application, which enables consumers to browse, purchase and manage ringback tones and jukeboxes while on the site. Ringback Buddies allows users to view the music their friends like or want, acquire those ringbacks and assign them to their contacts. Subscribers also will see "top 10" lists of tones and jukeboxes available to sample or to buy. Ringback Buddies--delivered via envIO networks' envIOWorks platform--offers individual ringback tones for an annual fee of $1.99 on top of Verizon's 99 cent monthly subscription for customers using ringbacks.
