Dyle launches EyeTV Mobile for live viewing on iPhone, iPad

Mobile Content Venture, the broadcaster coalition behind the Dyle mobile digital TV effort, is teaming with consumer electronics firm Elgato to introduce EyeTV Mobile, a TV tuner accessory enabling consumers to view live programming via devices running Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS.

The EyeTV Mobile accessory connects directly via the device's dock connector.

The EyeTV Mobile accessory connects directly via the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch dock connector and receives mobile TV signals using a miniature antenna, eschewing an Internet connection and consuming no mobile data. The accessory works in conjunction with the free EyeTV Mobile app, which includes pause/resume capabilities, electronic program guide information and other viewing features.

Dyle programming services are free; the EyeTV Mobile accessory retails for $99.95 and is available from the Elgato website as well as retailers such as Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN). The package comes with a miniature aerial for on-the-go viewing, a rod aerial with magnetic base and removable suction cup designed for stationary viewing in the home or office, a printed Quick Start Guide and a USB charging cable.

The EyeTV Mobile app requires iOS 5.1 or newer, and the accessory works with the iPod Touch (fourth generation), iPad, iPad 2, iPad (third generation), iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. EyeTV Mobile is also compatible with the newer devices including the iPhone 5, iPod Touch (fifth generation), iPad (fourth generation) and iPad Mini through adapters that connect the accessory.

Dyle offers digital mobile TV content through more than 90 stations in 35 U.S. markets, reaching 55 percent of the nationwide population. The Mobile Content Venture initiative brings together content from all four major broadcast networks as well as programming from 18 major broadcast groups; partners include NBC, Fox, Cox Media Group, Belo Corp., E.W. Scripps, Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television, Media General, Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media.
