2010 NFL Draft Logs Double Digit Increases Across ESPN Digital Platforms
ESPN's live three-day telecast of the 2010 NFL Draft - including the first two nights in prime time for the first time - captured audiences across multiple digital platforms this past weekend. In addition to its most-watched NFL Draft ever among viewers on television (ESPN and ESPN2), ESPN.com, the ESPN mobile Web site and online video each logged double digit increases across the board. During the 2010 Draft weekend (Apr. 22-25), over 20.1 million visits and 86.6 million page views were generated to the NFL section on ESPN.com - up 40 percent and 13 percent, respectively compared to the same time period last year. The NFL Draft Live feature generated nearly 2 million participants of conversation over the three days (Apr. 22-24), including 1.1 million in the first round. The weekend also drove the ESPN.com homepage to over 40 million visits and 86.7 million page views - an increase of 28 percent and 29 percent, respectively. The site also logged nearly 9.2 million video starts to NFL related content, up 47 percent. Fans that followed the draft on ESPN.com's revamped 2010 NFL DraftCast and the Draft Instant Analysis series proved to be the most engaged with NFL Draft related video, averaging completion rates of over 75 percent and 60 percent, respectively. Fans during the weekend were never far away from the latest draft coverage on mobile devices. The NFL section on ESPN's mobile Web site generated nearly 38 million page views - twice what it was last year - and over 8.8 million total visits - two-and-a-half times the total during the same time period in 2009.
