BlackBerry App World 2.1 Goes Live

BlackBerry App World 2.1 has gone live (www.blackberry.com/appworld) and will roll out over the day. The biggest addition is the ability for BlackBerry App World users to download applications that offer in-app payments via the BlackBerry Payment Service. Some games may offer extra levels at a cost, or some content providers may offer digital or virtual goods.

 

The Payment Service will make it easier for developers to monetize their BlackBerry applications and find commercial success. The service is easy to use and can be called easily into existing applications with the Payment Service SDK (http://us.blackberry.com/developers/platform/paymentservice.jsp).

 

Vendors will be able to register and manage virtual goods through the BlackBerry App World Vendor Portal, and a reporting feature will be able to track purchases/payments for their goods.
