US Cellular selects Loopt Location Platform
Location-based social apps and wireless location infrastructure provider Loopt announced on Thursday that US mobile carrier US Cellular will use the Loopt Location Platform to provide assisted location services to its subscribers.
No financial details were disclosed.
According to the company, the Loopt Location Platform provides users with more frequent and accurate location updates, allowing the carrier to extend location-based services (LBS) to more of its mobile users
Loopt is working with the operator on various location experiences for its customers, including mapping and geo-location apps. US Cellular has leveraged the Loopt Location Platform in its recent partnership with TeleNav and the launch of its new navigation service aEUR~Your Navigator Deluxe.aEUR(TM)
The companyaEUR(TM)s Location Platform is built on QPoint location server software licensed by SnapTrack Inc, a subsidiary of Qualcomm. Using this positioning technology, LooptaEUR(TM)s hosted LBS solution currently brings advanced location solutions to multiple US carriers.</p>
