NBC Universal announced plans to split its digital distribution arm into three specialized divisions: wireless platforms, digital platforms and digital sales. NBC Universal appointed VP of digital media Salil Dalvi to serve as GM of the wireless initiative--credited with spearheading the launch of the network's NBC Mobile broadcast news service, Dalvi will now be charged with overseeing the creation of two new NBC Uni linear mobile channels as well as managing the growth strategy, product development and operations for the network's mobile content efforts. NBC also named Michael Bonner to head its digital platforms initiative and promoted Ron Lamprecht to lead digital sales.
