In an effort to capture some of the 411 market, InfoSpace is set to launch the newest version of its Find It mobile search application, which includes location-based services (LBS) like GPS. Unlimited searches will cost the user $2.99 a month--the equivalent of two 411 calls. InfoSpace says the service will be available on 25 handsets and will run on Sprint Nextel's network. The app's features include search by name, category and map or directions. Categories include ATMs, movie theaters, banks, malls, parking garages, cleaners, restaurants and more. Restaurants break down into more categories and the map feature guides the user turn-by-turn. InfoSpace expects the LBS mobile directory market to be worth $3 billion this year, which includes fees and revenue from advertisements. Other companies in the LBS realm include search giants like Google, Yahoo and Microsoft, as well as Medio Systems and Action Engine.
