Location-based services provider TeleNav launched the latest version of its mobile handset application TeleNav GPS Navigator, adding social networking capabilities and business reviews to its core product. According to TeleNav, subscribers may now transmit their current location to friends and colleagues via text message, as well as share addresses and reviews of favorite restaurants, hotels and retailers--the new Fuel Finder also enables users to send alerts on current gasoline prices.
"Location-based services such as TeleNav GPS Navigator are increasingly more useful and usable, letting mobile subscribers leverage the immediacy and relevancy of the mobile phone to be more productive while on-the-go," said Yankee Group senior analyst of consumer mobility applications Jill Aldort in a prepared statement. "Information/direction services are one of the top mobile applications that consumers express interest in, and the addition of location sharing and other community features further raises the appeal."
