Alltel Wireless announced a partnership with NBC Universal to deliver the network's content via the operator's Axcess data services. The deal includes distribution of NBCU's 11 short-form video on-demand channels, among them NBC News, Bravo, USA Network and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," as well as full episodes of the acclaimed but ratings-challenged "Friday Night Lights." Alltel also will offer NBC-themed WAP sites, ringtones, ringbacks and wallpapers. Alltel and NBC said additional content will be available at a later date.
"NBC Universal is committed to offering its programming on a variety of platforms," said Jean-Briac Perrette, NBC Universal Digital Distribution president. "This agreement with Alltel provides their customers with a robust line-up of NBC Universal content, easily available to watch and view in a way that's convenient to them."
