Mobile solutions provider CW Multimedia announced a partnership with interactive messaging and content marketing provider Vibes Media to launch "Fight Text," a new service promising boxing fans real-time mobile interaction with televised bouts. Employing CW Multimedia's patent-pending Fight Text technology and Vibes' text-messaging platform, the service enables viewers to send their own round-by-round scoring updates via designated short code, with the television audience results tabulated and announced during the course of the broadcast. Each viewer who texts his scoring tabulation will receive a sponsored return message including chances to win prizes, purchase merchandise, play trivia or participate in other loyalty programs.
"Fight Text" will debut Aug. 8 in conjunction with ESPN2's live coverage of cruiserweight action pitting former undisputed world champion O'Neil "Supernova" Bell against Louis "The Lion" Azille. "For mobile programs to succeed, they have to create a spark with consumers and get them to want to participate," said Alex Campbell, Vibes Media CEO and co-founder. "The Fight Text program reaches right out to the viewer who has, until now, been unable to connect with the fight broadcasts in a meaningful way. Now, he feels like he's a part of the process and comes away with a more positive connection to the sport, the network and the brand that's sponsoring the text program for that event."
