Mobile music service provider Groove Mobile announced the addition of the Universal Music Group digital catalog to its consumer off-portal download service, which is newly available via British operator 3 UK. According to Groove Mobile, it has worked with 3 UK and fellow operator partner Vodafone to simplify consumer payment processes and data charges for off-portal content, controlling costs incurred by record labels on the mobile platform. "With off-portal data services continuing to gain traction in the U.K., we are excited to open our service to include UMG, expanding our library of music to provide even greater entertainment choices for consumers," said Groove Mobile CMO Adam Sexton in a prepared statement. "With the addition of 3 UK customers we will make the service available to an even larger audience, allowing them to access music tracks from their favorite artists by simply sending a text message."
