Sprint Nextel has named Dan Hesse president and CEO, filling the void created by Gary Forsee's October resignation [1]. Hesse previously served as chairman, president and CEO of service provider Embarq Corporation, which he helmed since its 2006 inception. He also spent 23 years at AT&T, serving as president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services from 1997 to 2000. "Dan's record of achievement is impressive," said Sprint's non-executive chairman James Hance in a prepared statement. "He possesses marketing and innovation savvy along with considerable operating acumen. Under his leadership, AT&T Wireless became the nation's largest carrier at the time and grew revenues three times faster than the rate of the industry. The company earned awards for service and innovation, along with recognition for overall performance. At Embarq he has done an excellent job of leading the company through its inception, building its brand and delivering solid financial and operating results."
