Verizon Wireless and Qualcomm-owned mobile banking and payments enabler Firethorn Holdings announced that customers of financial institutions including Wachovia, SunTrust, FirstBank, and BancorpSouth may now access their accounts via mobile handset. Verizon subscribers can check account balances, transfer funds between accounts within the same bank, and review and pay bills, all in real-time. The Firethorn application is currently available on Verizon devices including the Chocolate and enV by LG, LG VX8700, LG VX8600, LG VX9400 and the Samsung SCH-a950--additional handsets are scheduled to follow in the months ahead.
