Viacom's MTVN Entertainment Group announced the launch of Atom.com, a multi-platform digital comedy network promising original programming that spans the web, mobile, handheld devices, gaming platforms and television. The new Atom.com website will replace both AtomFilms.com and AtomUploads.com--its thousands of videos, animated clips and Flash games are classified as either "Pro Videos" (original or licensed content) and "User Videos" (user-generated content uploaded to Atom). At launch, Atom.com will debut four original series: Border Patrol (also the subject of a development deal with cable network Comedy Central), Steven & Stephen, Stickman Exodus and Benny, Escaped Convict. Viewers may also vote on new User Videos, with winners earning distribution and licensing deals as well as royalty payments via Atom's revenue-sharing program. Viacom will target mobile subscribers with Atom.com channels on Verizon Wireless, AT&T and Alltel.
