Financial services giant MasterCard Worldwide announced the launch of its MasterCard Over-the-Air Provisioning Service, a program enabling issuers to personalize cardholders' mobile devices via one-step, over-the-air process. With the MasterCard Over-the-Air Provisioning Service, issuers can more efficiently implement contactless PayPass solutions with minimal effort, enabling NFC-enabled mobile devices to process perform payment transactions at all merchant locations with PayPass-enabled point-of-sale terminals. According to MasterCard, the PayPass application is transferred onto a secure area of the consumer's mobile phone, then personalized with their individual payment account details. The service will be available for download through issuing banks' websites.
