Applications distribution platform provider PocketGear announced the launch of AndroidGear.com, a new storefront offering free and premium applications for smartphones powered by Google's fledgling Android mobile operating system. PocketGear invites developers are invited to upload their freeware and commercial applications for distribution through the AndroidGear site [1]--in addition to the U.S. storefront, the firm said it will open the first German-language Android retail effort, AndroidGear.de, as well as AndroidGear.co.uk, a site targeting the British market. PocketGear is celebrating its entry into the Android space by offering a 25 percent discount across all of its application retail efforts, including PocketGear.com, PalmGear.com, SymbianGear.com, RIMGear.com and Mobile2Day.com.
