Yahoo announced that Carol Bartz, former chief executive of software firm Autodesk, has been appointed its next CEO. Bartz replaces Yahoo CEO and co-founder Jerry Yang--in addition, the web services giant said its current president Sue Decker, who interviewed for the top job, will leave the company. Bartz spent 14 years as Autodesk CEO before becoming executive chairman of the company in 2006--during her tenure at the helm, revenues grew from less than $300 million to more than $1.5 billion, and share prices increased nearly tenfold.
