Mobile payment solutions firm Boku announced the
[1]close of a $13 million venture round led by Benchmark Capital with participation from Khosla Ventures and Index Ventures. In related news, the company also acquired mobile payment companies Paymo and Mobillcash for an unspecified sum. Boku's platform promises publishers and operators bank-grade, cross-carrier mobile transactions in the web environment--by clicking the "Pay By Mobile" button on a given website and responding to a text message confirming the payment, consumers can now purchase goods on websites and in games across 53 countries including the U.S. Boku will handle financial conversion rates across all markets, and also enables publishers to establish variable prices according to international locale.
