Sprint Nextel announced it will introduce devices running Qualcomm's BREW Mobile Platform operating system, promising new features and services for both smartphones and feature phones. BREW MP will support mobile Java and native applications--Sprint offered no details on when it will roll out BREW MP-enabled handsets, or who will supply them.
Qualcomm launched [1] the BREW Mobile Platform in June 2008, collaborating with Adobe Systems to integrate Adobe Flash technology into the BREW Client software in an effort to bridge the gap separating the mobile application and web content development communities. BREW MP extends the BREW Client services and API with expanded platform capabilities, multimedia and content support, access to device databases, connectivity support and touchscreen user interface development.
