CBS Mobile introduced the CBS News application for the iPhone and iPod touch, a free app promising breaking news,
[1] video and instant access to Twitter feeds from CBS reporters and users worldwide. According to CBS Mobile, the application--developed in conjunction with Treemo Labs and video solutions provider Transpera--includes articles, slideshows and video gathered as news unfolds; the app also boasts dedicated sections for CBS News programming including the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, 60 Minutes, Face the Nation and Sunday Morning, complete with full-length on-demand episodes and related features.
In addition to Twitter, the CBS News iPhone application ties into social media platforms including Digg and Delicious--users can share stories, videos and images with others in their social networks. In partnership with AccuWeather, the app provides real-time and extended weather forecasts targeted automatically by each user's location.
