Although an official announcement from Apple is presumably forthcoming, App Store tracking service App Shopper reports the virtual storefront now boasts more than 100,000 approved iPhone and iPod touch applications. As of this writing, the App Store has approved more than 102,000 applications in all, although only about 93,000 are presently available for download, according to App Shopper metrics.
Almost exactly a month ago, Apple announced [1] the App Store topped the 2 billion download benchmark--at that time, the storefront offered more than 85,000 applications spanning 20 categories including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.
