Yahoo announced the introduction of Yahoo Mobile en Español, a Spanish-language mobile homepage customized for
[1]the U.S. Hispanic subscriber. Available across more than 1,900 mobile device models, Yahoo Mobile en Español includes search services, editor-selected content and news updates including an América Latina section as well as access to email and social networking accounts, instant messaging, address book and calendar functions. Yahoo adds the new site will enable marketers to reach Hispanic consumers with highly targeted advertisements presented in a variety of contexts and formats.
According to census research, the U.S. Hispanic population now tops 46 million--industry research states that 88 percent of Hispanics consume content on their mobile devices, adding they use phone features, including the mobile web, at higher rates than other subscribers.
