Global payments solution giant Visa announced the North American rollout of a transaction alerts platform enabling card issuers to send real-time notifications to customers via email, SMS or the Visa Mobile application (introduced today by US Bank). Transaction alerts allow consumers to monitor their accounts for unusual activity and take immediate action in the event of fraud. Citing a recent Javelin Strategy & Research study, Visa notes that two out of three American consumers believe financial alerts are useful and valuable, adding that about 62 million consumers will receive such alerts by 2014.
