European operator Orange announced an agreement with entertainment retail chain HMV to launch Hmv mobile games, a new web portal initially boasting more than 400 mobile titles, with more on the way. Optimized for customers across any mobile network and supported by more than 1,000 Java-enabled handsets, Hmv mobile games--launching Mar. 26--features both premium and free titles, including perennials like Tetris, Pac-Man and Call of Duty; the service also includes free demos, user reviews and previews of new releases. Orange will offer operator billing options for its own subscribers, while consumers from rival networks can select a "Pay for It" billing system that charges for the individual cost of each download. Orange previously announced an agreement to install concessions in up to 100 HMV stores.
