Back to School season is well underway, and many consumers are stocking up on supplies and gadgets for a new year of learning. Whether you're finishing up 2^nd grade or rounding off a PhD, one thing bridges across all grade and education levels: Mobile technology is rapidly changing the way we learn, inside and outside of the classroom.

A county in Sweden, for example, is testing a new teaching model that gives each child an iPad in order to eliminate textbooks by 2013. Apple alone touts more than 20,000 educational apps for iOS, with Amazon's Appstore and Google Play offering thousands for Android.

In 2010, Apple introduced the Apple Volume Purchasing Program, allowing education institutions to purchase mobile applications in bulk orders of 20 apps or more. The following year, this bundling method rolled out to the enterprise sector.
