Tools

bill stone, qualcomm, mediaflo, flotvName: Bill Stone

Why they were a mobile content leader: Stone, a former Verizon Wireless executive, was president of Amp'd Mobile, a mobile virtual operator that was probably best known for its content focus. The MVNO even built a studio in Los Angeles to enhance its mobile entertainment offering. The MVNO's short-form mobile content program, Lil' Bush, was the first made-for-mobile content to migrate from handsets to network TV.

Career path: Stone is a veteran of GTE Wireless, AirTouch Cellular, Vodafone and Verizon Wireless. After heading up the ill-fated Amp'd Mobile, Stone served as CEO and president of content provider Handango.

Where they are now: Stone joined Qualcomm in January 2009 as senior vice president and president of FloTV. He is responsible for building the FloTV brand, expanding content and distribution, and increasing subscribers.
