Hold the Button - The Mobile App Turkeys of 2009

Why is it a turkey?
You've probably heard the legend of the young Dutch boy who saves his country by sticking his finger in a leaking dike and remaining there all night until the adults of the village discover his plight and make the necessary repairs. Mi Mundo Phone's iPhone game Hold the Button is kinda like that, except completely trivial and stupid. The free app consists of little more than the on-screen image of a fingerprint--you put your finger there, and hold it. And keep holding it, vying for the high score against other players from across the world with nothing else better to do, either.

"Think your [sic] patient? Think you have willpower? Think you have stamina?" reads the App Store description. If you've answered "Yes" to any of these questions, please consider applying those virtues to anything but Hold the Button. There's no dike about to burst, no Netherlands to save... just time to waste. Time you'll never get back.

What's next for Mi Mundo Phone: An app where paint dries in real time? Or one where grass grows? The possibilities are as endless as they are pointless. No doubt about it--as iPhone apps go, Hold the Button definitely deserves the finger.
