Mitch Lasky - mobile content memory lane
Name: Mitch Lasky
Why they were a mobile content leader: As CEO of Jamdat Mobile, Lasky ushered in a new era of mobile gaming. After launching the startup, Lasky transformed Jamdat into a major player in the mobile gaming space by developing such popular games as Jamdat Bowling and Tetris. The company was one of the first developers to use Qualcomm's BREW platform, which became the underlying content platform for operators such as Verizon Wireless, Alltel and more.
Career path: Lasky spent five years at entertainment publisher Activision, where he served as that firm's executive vice president of worldwide studios. He also was general manager of eCompanies Wireless, an Internet business incubator. Lasky then launched Jamdat Mobile, taking it from a small startup to a public company in 2004. In 2005, Jamdat was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2005 for $680 million. Lasky served as executive vice president of mobile and online at EA until he left in 2007 to join Benchmark Capital.
Where they are now: In 2007 Lasky was named general partner with Benchmark Capital where he oversees investments in the mobile and entertainment space.
