VZ Navigator - Top Mobile Applications 2008
VZ Navigator
Company: Networks in Motion http://www.networksinmotion.com/
Why It's a Top App: For all the inherent value of location-based technology in and around the subscriber's home area, LBS seems an even more vital proposition the further users travel outside their familiar comfort zones. Version 4 of Verizon Wireless' VZ Navigator location-based application, powered by navigation solutions provider Networks in Motion and released in May, updates the application to span 75 major U.S. markets and deliver information on traffic incidents, commuter updates and detour tips as well as 3D maps, a movie and events finder, weather reports and gas pricing data. In total, VZ Navigator data now covers more than 750,000 miles of roads in 48 states, with traffic tracking continually monitoring conditions along a driver's route, sending alerts as changing conditions demand and suggesting detour options. VZ Navigator is $9.99 for unlimited monthly access or $2.99 for one-day use on select Get It Now-enabled handsets. Along with an industrial-sized cup of coffee and a cassette tape full of trucker anthems, it's all you need to hit the open road.
Comments
What a crappy selection! Verizon offers "Version 4" where, becuase trying to download it to a VZW Blackberry retrieves Version 2.9.9. In other words, neither NIM nor VZW care about we Blackberry customers, we are prevented from using any other software for GPS, yet VZW will still gladly take or $3/day or $10/month for two major versions old software! Poor selection Fierce, very poor.
