Best music apps: MOG
MOG
(Developed by MOG)
Available for: iOS, Android
Price: $9.99
MOG's music service, like Google Music and Amazon MP3, takes advantage of cloud capabilities to give users on-demand access to millions of songs. Unlike Google or Amazon, however, MOG does not require users to upload their own music libraries.
Users have access to over 12 millions songs and through the service's all-you-can-eat system, can download as much music as they would like. MOG, like Rdio, offers a tiered system of music options, though in both cases only the $9.99/a month version allows mobile access. Like Rdio, MOG's music is ad-free, though MOG users can choose which songs to listen to. Users can also listen to a personalized radio format, filterable by artist or similar artists. The MOG app features a sliding scale allowing users to limit the artist variance within radio mode.
MOG users can stream songs over Wi-Fi and 3G or cache songs for offline listening.
However: The $9.99 price tag is steeper than some of the other music apps, and users who are more interested in the radio aspect of MOG might consider an alternate music app. In addition, once a user cancels his or her MOG subscription, they will no longer have access to music previously downloaded from the MOG network.
