Not only does Verizon get the iPhone, every Tier 1 carrier gets it

AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la VegaThe prospect of Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone paired with Verizon Wireless' (NYSE:VZ) network has been bandied about for years. But now it's looking more and more likely that Verizon will launch a CDMA version of the iPhone early next year.

AT&T Mobility's (NYSE:T) De la Vega has said repeatedly that losing iPhone exclusivity won't dent wireless earnings. However, AT&T has largely relied on the iPhone (along with a surge in connected devices) to fuel its growth this year.

AT&T insists that many iPhone customers are business users or those in family plans and are therefore less likely to churn. However, what has to keep de la Vega up at night is not just the idea of a Verizon iPhone, but that the CDMA iPhone also lands on Sprint Nextel's (NYSE:S) network, and that Steve Jobs--freed from AT&T's network--decides to hand T-Mobile USA the iPhone as well.
