24 digital spinoff The Rookie comes to mobile

Tools

Twentieth Century Fox Television announced it will produce a second season of the 24 digital spinoff The Rookie in partnership with multinational manufacturer Unilever's Degree deodorant. The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction, a series of six digital shorts running between three and five minutes each, will air on mobile handsets and video-on-demand as well as online. The show chronicles the adventures of American counter terrorism agent Jason Blaine (standing in for 24's Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland) as he battles a drug cartel. The shorts are directed by 24 director of photography Rodney Charters, and other production staffers and stunt players from the primetime series are involved in the digital effort as well. The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction debuts March 17 at DegreeRookie.com, with new episodes premiering every other week.
