ABI: 27% of U.S. mobile web users have clicked ads
Twenty seven percent of U.S. subscribers accessing the mobile web have clicked on mobile advertisements, according to a Feb. 2010 consumer survey conducted by ABI Research--by comparison, only 21 percent of users had clicked on ads when the analyst firm conducted a similar study in Dec. 2008. ABI notes that 28 percent of subscribers now access the mobile web at least once a day, up from 16 percent in late 2008--at that time, only about 36 percent of respondents said they would accept mobile coupons and discounts if given some control over the process, but in the months since, that number has increased to about 45 percent.
ABI reports that growing acceptance of mobile advertising corresponds with increased consumer concern over m-commerce security. Seventy-six percent of respondents indicate apprehension around mobile transaction safety, up from 71 percent in late 2008.
