Accenture fills gap with Digiplug acquisition
Management consulting and technology services giant Accenture announced its acquisition of Digiplug, the Paris-based mobile content repurposing and distribution firm previously owned by Faith Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Digiplug supplies music and video manufacturing and delivery services to record labels and device manufacturers; news of its acquisition arrives in tandem with the introduction of Accenture Digital Media Services, which the firm says will operate in concert with Digiplug's existing services to offer content owners and distributors a comprehensive solution for digital content and services.
"Digiplug will enhance our ability to help clients transform themselves for the new digital world," said Accenture global managing director of media and entertainment Greg Douglass in a prepared statement. "Clients today require sophisticated distribution capabilities with the ability to create new product bundles and content offerings which in turn will generate new revenue streams. Digiplug is a market leader and we are delighted to have them become a part of Accenture."
