Mobile advertising marketplace AdMob announced the launch of the AdMob iPhone Download Exchange, promising developers a channel to increase consumer awareness and downloads of their applications for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices. According to AdMob, the iPhone Download Exchange leverages the firm's mobile technology platform and its existing relationship with a network of more than 1,000 iPhone applications to maximize effectiveness of exchange ads, guaranteeing they run solely on devices that do not already have the same app installed as well as targeting the correct operating system version, geography and device (i.e., iPhone or iPod touch). In addition, the service simplifies ad creation by automatically developing the creative and provides reporting on the impressions allocated by developers to the exchange and the number of downloads generated, offering programmers detailed control over the ratio of exchange ads versus paid ads running in their software.

AdMob notes it will allocate iPhone Download Exchange ad inventory among exchange members according to the quantity and quality of the inventory each developer contributes, as well as what the firm calls the "installiness" of an application. AdMob adds it will carefully monitor and optimize the exchange in an effort to deliver optimal results for all members.
