Alltel debuts Axcess Family Finder

Days after introducing a new content control application enabling parents to filter inappropriate content from their children's phones, Alltel Wireless announced another family-friendly feature: Axcess Family Finder, a GPS-based service for parents to determine the location of their child's handset via their own phone or PC. According to Alltel, Axcess Family Finder features interactive maps to monitor or guide family members to specific locations, enabling parents to identify sites their children frequent (e.g. movie theaters and parks) by using the Axcess Family Finder website--the site also supports related security measures like Scheduled Checks, which tracks registered locations at specific times of day. Parents may also sign up to receive text alerts contain their child's current location. Developed by location-based solutions provider WaveMarket, Axcess Family Finder is available for $9.99 a month per child application.
