Alltel introduces Parental Controls
Alltel Wireless and mobile web solutions provider Bytemobile announced the launch of Alltel Parental Controls, a free application enabling parents to filter inappropriate content from their children's phones. Debuting in February 2008, Alltel Parental Controls is based on Bytemobile's Unison ACCESS Mobile content filtering solution. Parents set filtering preferences via the MyAccount function on the Alltel website, blocking at their discretion content featuring pornography, gambling and violence. In partnership with filtering technology provider RuleSpace, Alltel and Bytemobile also offer a content filtering database including features like "dynamic rating," which enables the carrier to remain updated on newly discovered, unrated and mixed-content sites, rating and selectively blocking sites in real-time.
