Alltel launches LBS Nationwide Roaming

Alltel Wireless announced the launch of LBS Nationwide Roaming, enabling subscribers to access GPS-based navigation and location applications outside of their home network area. According to Alltel, LBS applications including TeleNav GPS Navigator, Alltel Navigation, Axcess Family Finder and WHERE will now function across the operator's existing network as well as in more than 45 major metro areas that were inoperable prior to recent network enhancements. Standard roaming charges apply. "Through LBS Nationwide Roaming, our customers are able to use a GPS application when it matters most, especially when they are in unfamiliar territory," said Alltel director of multimedia content Kristi Crum in a prepared statement.
