Alltel tunes in Axcess TV on Demand
Alltel Wireless announced Axcess TV on Demand, a new service that expands the operator's existing on-demand mobile video package via content from FOXSports.com, Discovery Mobile, and MTV Networks' MTV, VH1, and Comedy Central. Axcess TV Demand will offer subscribers more than 200 on-demand clips from programs including MTV's "My Super Sweet 16," VH1's "Best Week Ever" and Discovery's "Dirty Jobs" for $3.99 per month; for an added $5.99 per month, Alltel also will offer a premium version of Axcess TV on Demand featuring programming from NBC Sports, IGN Entertainment, BravoToGo and USA Mobile.
In mid-July, Alltel announced a partnership with NBC Universal to distribute NBCU's 11 short-form video on-demand channels as well as full episodes of the acclaimed but ratings-challenged "Friday Night Lights."
"Axcess TV on Demand provides our customers with an easy way to watch videos at a great value," said Wade McGill, Alltel senior VP of wireless product management. "Wherever our customers may be, they will be able to tune into their favorite shows at a price that everyone can afford."
