Amazon.com unveils free Kindle app for BlackBerry
Almost a year after introducing a free Kindle ebook application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch, online retail giant
Amazon.com announced the launch of Kindle for BlackBerry, promising users across the U.S. access to more than 420,000 books spanning a range of devices. According to Amazon, consumers can now browse an in-app Kindle Store optimized for the BlackBerry platform, sample the beginning pages of titles before they buy, access previously-purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon's servers, synchronize the last page read between compatible devices, adjust text sizes, and create and view bookmarks and annotations across multiple platforms.
Amazon's Kindle Store presently offers 102 of the current 112 New York Times bestsellers. Most, including new releases, are $9.99 or less. All Kindle titles are in full color.
