Amazon optimizes Kindle Store for iPhone
Online retail giant Amazon.com announced the launch of a Kindle Store optimized for the iPhone's Safari-based web browser, promising an ereader shopping experience expressly tailored for the size and shape of iPhone and iPod touch screens. According to Amazon, when users of the Kindle for iPhone app click on the "Get Books" link, the optimized Kindle Store now automatically opens in Safari, promising faster and easier access to 280,000 digital books, including 106 of 112 current New York Times bestsellers.
Amazon introduced the Kindle for iPhone application March 4. The app is closely integrated with the Kindle ereader, enabling users to save and synchronize bookmarks across the Kindle, iPhone and iPod touch platforms to resume reading where they left off, regardless of which device is in their hands. iPhone users may also adjust the text size of their books and access their entire library of previously purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon's servers.
