'American Idol' app launches on iPhone

International production firm FremantleMedia Enterprises and mobile user experience solutions developer Zumobi announced the launch of an official American Idol application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch. The American Idol Season 8 Exclusive app follows the glorified karaoke competition's 13 finalists as they vie for their 15 minutes of fame, promising fans exclusive multimedia content (e.g., singer bios, photos and behind-the-scenes video) and news updates. According to FremantleMedia, the iPhone app will introduce 78 original videos each week from now through the American Idol season finale--in addition, users can track their favorite contestants' progress, predict viewer voting and download music from the American Idol iTunes page. American Idol Season 8 Exclusive is now available in the App Store for $1.99.
