Amodee, SDC partner on mobile music advertising

Mobile advertising solutions developer Amobee Media Systems announced a partnership with mobile music DRM provider SDC to create contextual and targeted advertising-supported music services. Amobee will integrate its handset application programming interface into SDC's white-label Java, Symbian and BREW music players, enabling devices to receive opt-in advertisements from Amobee's server without compromising the consumer listener experience.

"Over the last several years the music industry has engaged with the mobile industry to create a new music experience--however, the user bears the full weight of payment, a situation that will ultimately stifle growth," Amobee CEO Zohar Levkovitz said in a prepared statement. "Ad-funding the mobile music business has the potential to create new revenue streams for operators and record labels while delivering an innovative, targeted and measurable advertising channel for brands."
