Amp'd teams with Obopay

The youth-oriented MVNO Amp'd Mobile has inked a deal with mobile payments company Obopay to integrate a mobile payment system on Amp'd's handsets. According to the companies, an application on the users' handset will allow them to easily receive, send and spend money anytime, anywhere. The hook is supposedly its usability: Amp'd subscribers will only need to enter their Amp'd phone number and a passcode when shopping on their phone, as opposed to typing out or reading out their credit card number, expiration date and security code. Both companies plan to market the service across U.S. colleges and universities during the coming fall semester. Founder and CEO Carol Realini of Obopay: "The mobile phone will do for money, what the iPod has done for music."
