Analyst: Much-hyped Origami a let down

Tools

Microsoft has been teasing the tech industry these past few weeks leading up to the CeBIT IT conference in Germany about its "ultra mobile" mini PC codenamed Origami. The device has been billed as a new category of PC that doubles as a smartphone and is foremost an entertainment device for watching movies, music and video and GPS. Analyst Peter Gorham said he got a sneak peek of the device and commented: "It's what we dreaded, a let down... It's the next-stage PDA, and who knows if there is a true consumer market for this." The device is also expected to run on Windows XP and cost just under $1000 initially.
