AOL in acquisition talks with Third Screen
Time Warner's AOL is in negotiations to acquire mobile advertising firm Third Screen Media, according to The Wall Street Journal. Citing sources close to the talks, the report said the two companies have been in discussions since early this year, and that AOL is close to making an offer in the range of $80 million. If an agreement is reached, Third Screen would likely become part of AOL's Advertising.com subsidiary.
According to the WSJ, in May 2006 Microsoft's MSN division was near a deal to acquire Third Screen, but negotiations ultimately fell through.
