Apple debuts iWork for iPhone, iPod touch
Apple's iWork system of productivity apps--including Keynote, Pages and Numbers--is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch. Initially designed for Apple's Mac computers, Apple brought iWork to the iPad early last year. With today's announcement, the software is now available on the company's full line of Mac and iOS-based devices.

iPad users who previously purchased iWork can download the new iPhone release as a free update. New users can purchase titles through the iTunes store for $9.99 each. The company charges $19.99 each for Mac users.
Apple also introduced the Keynote Remote app, an additional 99 cents, which allows users to control a Keynote presentation on a Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch from another iPhone or iPod touch in the room. Keynote presentations also can be viewed via a projector or HD TV.
The iWork announcement arrives a week before next week's Apple developer conference, perhaps, notes John Gruber of Daring Fireball, because there are so many other activities slated for the conference, including the official announcement of iOS 5.
iWork is Apple's answer to Microsoft's Office suite of products, and offers document creation and editing, speadsheet functions and presentation options. iWork for mobile devices is currently limited to iPad and iPad 2, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, and the 3rd and 4th generation iPod touch.
