Apple tuning up integrated iPhone radio application
Apple is reportedly developing a radio application for the iPhone and iPod touch that would integrate with iTunes premium music sales. Citing inside sources, 9to5Mac.com reports the radio app will offer functionality similar to the FM radio service included in the new iPod Nano, operating in the background of the device and presumably boasting features like Live Pause. Both iPhones and iPods have been able to receive FM radio broadcasts for some time, and with the advent of iPhone OS 3.1, the devices can also send FM signals.
9to5Mac.com adds that the radio app will integrate to iTunes to support premium purchases--if users hear a song they wish to buy, a button would identify the track, related content and information, and offer single-click purchase access. The iPod Nano offers a similar Song Tagging feature.
