AtomFilms goes mobile on Verizon
AtomFilms teamed up with Verizon Wireless for a multi-year exclusive agreement to bring the site's original short films to the carrier's VCast service. This is a great deal for both parties: Verizon will benefit from Atom's online cult following, and this is Atom's first foray beyond its original online site. However, a "multi-year exclusive agreement" for Atom's content is a bit disappointing. Few of the studios or networks are allowing exclusive deals with carriers and they shouldn't. Unfortunately, the smaller online media houses who make the first deals with carriers will probably get stuck in contracts like Atom's--that is until someone like Atom does very well and changes the bargaining power.
